My Philosophy:

People who use the phrase 'a lone tear ran down his face' - or any variation on the named, 'a lone tear' being the vital point - deserved to be lined up and shot. In the face.
It is a cliché. And a terrible one at that.
Who cries single tears? Because the only people that spring to mind are grown men are trying extraordinarily hard to suppress the fact that you've just accidentally kneed them in the balls.

Music

This is one of my all time favourite pieces of music. It's the sort of thing that can either make you overly cheerful or completely depressed but it always seems to retain the fundamental beauty that can often be lost when a piece of music is over played. I don't know why, but there is this chord change/sequence, that sort of jumps at 1:15 running into 1:16 a little, that I have completely fallen in love with. For some reasons best know to it's self it always sort of gives me a little lift and it's one of the reasons that I adore this song so much. With all the music I like it's really got this same thing, there's just a bit in it - whether it's a second or a minute - that is wonderfully beautiful that I just love in itself, regardless of whether the rest of the song is dull or stunning.

In other news, as of 3 days ago, I am officially one year closer to death.

Scottish Accents

It was my sister's birthday today - we're exactly 2 years and 2 days apart - and what more of a reason to crack out the bubbly? After 2 large glasses of champagne and a slice of birthday cake, I am sitting at the computer with drunk eyebrows - you know how it is with champagne, it gets you drunk quickest and it goes to you eyebrows first, making you look in a state of constant surprise - at least in my family it does- so the front room is just filled with a family of slightly startled looking French people (I really can't be bothered go into the exact nationalities of everyone here, so I just rounded it all up).
I have just spent the last 2 hours watching James McAvoy interviews so that I could think in a Scottish accent. I don't know if it worked... I think it might have...

Dear Lord.
What has my life come to?

Oh shit!

I just succeeded in setting fire to my vacum cleaner... well not quite setting fire to... but my house is now filled with smoke and the lounge is effectively white, though I'm not sure you can see it there because the camera decided not to pick up the smoke...
But yeah, I was just hoovering away and the room started to smell a bit like burning fish. So I kept on hoovering and then it decided to start making noises like a landing aeroplane and then a load of smoke poured out from the bottom and now I'm trying to waft it all out before everyone gets back and stabs me.

Good luck with that because they should be home in about 5 minutes.

I'm screwed.

The Fantastical World Of MSN

So, this is a conversation over MSN me and Andraste had a couple of days back pertaining to this gif:
Me and her have this injoke that I'm going to marry him one day - though the likeliness of that actually happening must be about 1 in 7 billion - and she's a bit of a pervert for Jason Isaacs.
Just incase you didn't notice the scarily stalkerish bit, I've underlined it specially for you.
And this isn't just some kind of sick joke, because later on in the conversation, I tell her that I'm going to put it up here.
She goes a bit nuts and is like "No, no, no! Please don't!".
To which point I say, "Don't worry, I'll tell them that it was a joke."
And she replies, "But it wasn't."

Sometimes I worry for my friends.

Coconuts

So, today Lucas goes out to the shops to get some food after he comes back from doing what ever he does best - and god only knows what that is - and I ask him, quite politely, might I add, to get get me something nice to eat, maybe some chocolate, or some fresh summer strawberries, or mint choc ice cream. When he finally returns home, he opens up his bag, pulls a single coconut from the plasticy depths and lays it down on the side rather triumphantly. Which then begs the question:
"What the fuck is that?"
For a moment he stares at me as if I'm slightly simple, then replies in his irritating, whiney yet somehow slothish voice "A coconut..."
"I gathered," I say. "But where is the something nice I asked you get?"
"This is the something nice..."
"And how exactly am I supposed to get into this?" I probe, somewhat exasperatedly.
"With a chizzel!"

Now, I don't know about you, but I don't have chizzels just lying about my house, and, over the years, I have come to learn that anything that requires a chizzel to get inside of it is worth neither the time nor the effort. Though, I am in no position to argue, seen as at that point in time I am wearing my summer pijamas that always succeed in riding up my arse whenever I walk and have curlers dotted about my head in an attempt to make my hair have atleast some degree of wave in it before I go to see the last Harry Potter movie - not exactly shop-going material.

So now, I have a lonely coconut stagnating on my side as it will probably do for the next year and a half until I can find a decent enough boyfriend who will, no doubt, chuck it away the second he lays eyes on it.

I guess I can always dream, right?

Painting Finished - Just in the Nick of Time, Might I Add

I know it looks essentially the same as the green I put on last night, but I've changed the tones from a sort of dirty yellow to brighter greens, a little bit more blue.
Those bits are the bottom layers of the flowers overhead... they're a bit patchy but it all fits together
Initially I was going to leave it at just this but it just didn't look right - the whole point of the photo and what mad it look nice was the fact it sort of all arched and I'd done the people too hight, squishing all the flowers up and making the bottom half of the painting look relatively dull, taking people's views off in an onto only the top and making the painting look out of place...
(Lets just pretend this is the right way up because every time I rotate it, it disappears)
To solve the earlier problem, I brought down the flowers and pulled round the sides, adding bits of  the sky for  depth and texturing bits of the walls and the floor to draw the eyes to the rest of the picture... and, well, I think it's turned out quite well, considering it only took about 3 days...

Painting

So, this is the photo I chose to do the painting for Marylle (my aunt, not Mariellen) of... to be quite honest, it looks pretty shitey here - the colours aren't quite as vivid as the print out I have to paint from, but you get the jist... I've been working on it since Saturday night I believe, taking a bit of a break today to do some other, unrelated canvas work with Aroura-Dawn and Andraste for Carley's going away present - she's moving to Switzerland (or however you spell it)...

Saturday Evening

I know the top sketch is pretty crap... but I am a proper artist, I promise - pulls puppy dog eyes -

All Day ¬¬ Sunday
The pair took me 4 hours to complete ¬¬
Looking slightly less shitty now, isn't it? ;)

What Little I Have Done Today
Fucking green :O

In other news, this computer's a bitch - I've been trying to make this post since 23:30 on Monday and it is now 2:31... so pissed off it is unfathomable... well less pissed off and more sick of life... the sort of feeling where all you want to do is sit down, have a gin and tonic, and smoke 8 packets of cigarettes - 10 fags at a time... the non-smoker's equivellent of sitting down, having a gin and tonic and eating 15 packets of bourbons, as many as you can fit in your mouth at one time...
A good shag might be nice as well...

Or maybe I'm just a miserable bitch who needs a slap...

Oh, and until yesterday, when I was watching Knocked Up on ITVsomethingoranother, I did not know that there was a Legoland in America... or out of Windsor for that matter... I guess you learn something new everyday...

Hand-made Birthday Card!

Quite recently, well, about a month ago, it was Andraste's birthday and she requested I make her a lovely hand-made card. And being the excentric I am, I ended up making her a huge, sparkly, butterfly, Lucius Malfoy card (because she's in love with him). It took me about 10 hours to make, not including the drawning of the character, but I think she liked it... and well... here's all the photos I took of it and a bit of a guide to how I made it ;)

This isn't the whole of the card, but it was when it was nearly finished. I cut the general size out of about 4 foot of black card, measuring it against the drawing (that I made first) and how much space I would need to do the cut off edge and keep it look spread out and attractive without having not enough room to stick down the picture.
At first I drew about 4 different butterflies to go on the front (as you can see in the top right corner of the 3rd pic) and then traced around them to make blank templates to be used as stencils for the cut edge and the silver spray, also crating an extra large one from a folded A4 piece of paper and the laws of symetry.

The final result turned out like this, I know there isn't much change, but at the time there was a lot of change going on in my head: Initially, I was going to have Lucius on the front of the card, with the other butterflies coming out from below him so it merged from man, into a swarm of butterflies, the dark black working like a kind of perspective against the silver of the underlying page, but arfter the spraying and waiting for it to dry, I came to the conclusion that it looked pretty enough as it was and if anything the face would ruin it and cause too much caos on the front, slipping him in the middle as a kind of page break.
I don't know if you can see it there, but the way I stuck the butterflies down was with little chain springs of different sizes on the bellies, and then by folding the wings up slightly.

In other birthday news, it's mine on the 25th and in true celebration of youth, Me, Andraste and Alexis are going to fockin' Legoland to go on Legorides and be a hero and slay a dragon and get free lego in our legoland happy meals and all the shabazzle!

Oh and btw, by all means use my card idea if you want - I'd be quite flattered if you did - but please let me have a little credit and don't pretend like it's your idea...
Thanks x

I Have The Answer!

I've finally, after a few days of thinking nothing about it, come to the conclusion that I'm going to do Andraste's creepy, bony shoulders in it's own painting and then do the colourful confeti painting from a photo of Aurora-Dawn, quickly drawn above (the blank shit on her head is the confeti, not anything else). Although, at the moment I only have an 30x40 canvas, which I'm going to use for the shoulder because it's smaller and only really a study, but I either need to buy or make 2 new canvases for the confeti picture and a painting I told my aunt I'd do for her... and that needs to be finished - or started at least - by the 13th because that's when she's coming upto visit with my cousin, Nicolas...

In other news, ugh, I'm tired... it's, what, 1 in the morning here and I need to wake up at some kind of ungodly hour to get ready to go to Alexis' place in the morning so we can go and look at this new college... I'd rather snooze... but I suppose it's better than what I've been reduced to doing all day - watching Jermey Kyle and Judge Judy in my pijamas until about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then finally getting dress and then eating shit all day... I don't know how unemployed people don't die of boredom...

Ahhhhhh... Fuck the Challenge... I have more/less important shit to spew...

It's all in the title :D
I've been doing things out of what I'm supposed to be doing because, well, I've finished for the year already... at the moment I'm thinking of doing a canvas... this is one of my first ideas - the top one was just a quick sketch of a photo I have and the bottom one is a more detailed approach... I don't really know how I'll so it because at first I wanted the colours of the confeti in her hair and then I also wanted to show how this she really is by looking at her neck and shoulders and inorder to do the hair and the shoulders I'd have to get her face in which is at quite an od angle that is neither flattering nor easy to paint... as you can see I've gone over all of this many times already from all my insane scriblings around the pictures...
Though hopefully I'll work it out soon...
