Me, Eric and Lucas travelled down to Langeac on Sunday, before Mariellen and the rest, to get the house ready, warmed up and the water running - because the house is old and isn't very warm so we needed to open all the windows to let some of the outside heat in and check for any cracks in the pipes - there is normally somebody in the house all year round but it gets very cold in the winter and if no one comes the pipes can crack and burst from the ice if the water wasn't cut off propperly earlier in the year...
On a quite curious search around the house for something to do while we waited for Monday, I found these (up ^) - haven't been used or touched and are still in the cushioned boxI suppose they came with. I'm not sure if these were supposed to be food plates or merely ornamental but I'm sure they haven't see the light of day in a very long time - seen as my father's owned the house since his grandparents died in the 70s and was living there since his parents broke up and his dad died and didn't know they even existed until quite recently. I'm not quite sure how old they are... either a wedding gift to my great grandparents when they married - so from about the 20s or 30s - or a family heir loom that belonged to my great grandmother's side of the family (they were quite well off)... I certainly know they can't have come very cheap considering that certainly the edges apear to be hand painted - the flowers in the circle (you can't really see them here) and the gold leaf... I'm not too sure about the other pictures on the plates cos they're all different so there is nothing to compare... but they could just be prints or etchings sooo....
Have a fun life
