This in that Langeac town I talked about before... as you can tell, it's pretty damn old - they're all still using hourse and carts... although, it is a bit of a backwater town so it might be a bit younger than I think... you see that building in the middle, it's still there... which is quite interesting... but I don't think anybody uses it anymore apart from as a store room... This centre is now often used for the market but all the stuff in it is like crap CDs so I don't think I've ever bought anything from it...
This photo is a slightly more recent one from about the 60s... but again I'm not sure... this is of the highstreet... scarily enough it all still looks the same - the houses and shops have barely changed and there are still some people that drive around in cars like those :P
This is in Langeac aswell... the house behind the fountain is, like much of Langeac, still standing... although, as you can see the garden on this extends over the end of the photo... but at some point they paved over the garden and knocked down the fountain to create a cross road... there's now a small garage where the most part of the garden would be...
As you can tell, it's also been written on... Exciting much ^ ^ and the handwriting is beautiful :D I can't really read the handwriting very well... but I think the general jist of what it is:
"I stopped in Langeac. It's a nice and interesing town, a bit backwards. Love you, kisses. Charles."
This is a full veiw of the town... it's a bit bigger now...
And I think you can probably guess what it says - it's very basic french... judging by reading it it's a reply to a postcard that I don't have ¬¬
This is of a bridge that is on the outskirts of town that crosses over the river that you see in the background... my house is near it... and right next to it now are 2 shopping markets which means I don't have to walk too far/get in a car to get food... yay ^ ^
I can't really see what it says down the bottom because it got cut off and I can't read the handwriting... although, I think it's along the same lines of the 1st one with writing on it...
Here's a photo of the road near the train station... on either sides of the road there are two competing hotels probably hoping to get the passengers off the trains there... I'm not sure about the one on the right but I'm sure the one on the left was still working up until atleast 72 because my dad used to meet my grandfather there after school and have a snack in the bar...
This time it isn't Langeac :O It's a town called Luxeuil-les-Rains... atleast I think that's it... I've never been there before, but my Great Grandfather used to own a factory there making little ornaments from iron like ash trays and small statues, some of which I still have in the bottom floor/cellar thing in the house - he built it and lived in it for a while so it has lots of these things and some old documents from when it was working and when he decided to shut it down...
The back is also hard to read because the photo I took is shit and there's writing everywhere but it effectively says:
"Hello, 'Mummy'... I've been working in this town for a while now. It's quite nice here. At the moment it's snowing and very cold. Lots of men from the town are going down the slope [the one in the picture] in sledges. It's very steep." and so on and so forth...
To be quite honest, I'm not really sure where this is because, again, it's from Luxeuil-de-Rains and I' haven't been there... but I still find it quite fascinating - you can see all of the people going about their loves and the clothes of the time... and I think the bit I love the most about this is on the right, on a balcony, there's one of the most stereo-typical French person - with a berret and a mostache XD
